3 more days of sunburn

From Phuket 2008
So our island and elepant adventures of the previous 5 days made it really, REALLY difficult to leave Phuket. We had only planned for 5 nights on the island, but still had over a week's worth of vacation to spare and more money than expected in our trip savings (if you ever want to feel rich, fly to Thailand and have an ATM print your account balance in the local currency. Cha-CHING!). We'd been semi-lusting over a hotel down the street with fancy Disneyized Thai design and massive breakfast buffet, so on a whim we used our resort's internet connection to book 3 nights at the Woraburi. It was pretty funny to pack up our suitcases only to roll them a block away and check in at another hotel.

The Woraburi was one of the only hotels in our Lonely Planet guidebook to get a 5-star rating, and they weren't kidding-- our ground floor room had a balcony WITH POOL ACCESS! So, so amazing.

The hotel entrance had a bunch of flags displayed, but no US flag, and all the books in the library were in Swedish. Also they played Ludacris and the Cash Money Millionaires on loop in the lobby, which everyone knows is the gold standard for 5 star resorts the world over. It was heavenly.

See that pile of rags in the sink? Yeah... that's the communal hand-and-bum-drying rag.
